Tai Chi Spain

The aim of Tai Chi Spain is to create a centre of excellence for the promotion and development of the internal arts. To this end Tai Chi Spain offer Tai Chi holidays, classes, courses, camps, instruction and retreats for the complete beginner to advanced level instructors. Taichispain.com is Stephen Pointer and Trevor Taylor. Our idea is to share our tai chi chuan practice with as wide a range of people as we can. To this end we offer a range of tai chi courses and holidays to suit the varying needs of different people. We are based near Orgiva in the Las Alpujarras region of Granada province, Andalucia, Spain. We are also interested in establishing links with other internal arts practitioners and groups, with a view to sharing knowledge and practice.

Las Alpujarras and Sierra NevadaTai Chi Holidays and Camps in Las Alpujarras, Spain

We offer a range of accommodation for our Tai Chi camps and courses, all within the beautiful Las Alpujarras region of Andalucia, Spain.

The tai chi camps are low impact holidays on our farm with several accommodation possibilities. There are individual tents with mattress and great views. The idea is that when the courses are finished, the land reverts to farm land. This allows us to share our environment with others without losing its unique and precious qualities.

The location of our holiday accommodation makes exploring the surrounding area very easy, the historical city of Granada and the Sierra Nevada mountain range are both short drives away. Our courses usually run for a full week or a weekend (check our courses page for more details).

Tai Chi Chuan has its roots in China. It is the culmination of thousands of years of martial arts tradition from all over the East. It is a true art form and is one of the many ways of "touching the divine" in the universal energy flow.

Yang style tai chi is from the tai chi developed by the Yang family, not yang as in yin/yang. It is the style most popular in the West and was brought over by Chen Man Ching, who shortened the original yang forms, removing many repetitions and making it more accessible.

Tai chi instruction is about being led to a place of understanding by someone who already knows. If we learn to drive we go to someone who can already drive. With tai chi it is the same. As we practice we accumulate knowledge which we are able to share. This is called sharing the practice and is the basis of tai chi instruction.
